Music - Crime in Progress?
Do we have a copyright law breaker here?
Near the midpoint of this video clip, it is obviously playing VERY popular song by popular artist. I doubt they would license it for infinite play on the Internet. http://www.austexvideo.com/video/ariel_thomas.htm |

I think the real crime here is that song. 1984 was a LOOONG time ago people. Let's get some fresh ideas rolling.
Hey I know your name is LAW and everything, but I don't think the purpose of the DVI forum is for policing it's members. Let's not start pointing fingers unless it's at the Pointer Sisters. |

Well, frankly, as it currently stands, I wish there were no copyright laws.
We can't use popular songs in the few cases when our customers demand it, without worrying about the big recording companies coming after us with their deep pocket and high-power lawyers, while our customers get to copy our wedding videos with impunity, since we would never go after them for fear of being labeled "troublesome". But if somebody can use it, especially out in the open like that, then the least they can let us use it in the privacy of our clients' home, if they already paid for a copy of that song via the regular music CD route. |
