The DGA
Hey,
I am just about to graduate from college and soon I hope to start interning as a stage manager for television. I eventually want to move into directing tv/film. Is anyone a member of the DGA that can recomend when I join and what catergory? It is very expensive and I'm a little apprehensive. I have to decide between the Canon XL-2 or this... so... you understand. Michael Estepp |

First get a job, then join the DGA, Michael. You will have to have a work history to qualify for membership, along with the written recommendation of three active members of the DGA. Your category will be appropriate to the work you are doing, such as stage manager, unit production manager, assistant director, or director.
The DGA will not get you work, so even if you could join now, there would be no point to it. So buy the camera and have fun.

Oh, okay, I thought it was illegal to work without being a member. I thought people got fined that way.
