Help with a customer...
This guy called me up and he wanted me to edit and dump 8mm footage that he shot of his daughter as a baby and he plans to present it to her as a present. I told him that I can not gurantee the quality of the shots and explained that there will be generation loss when the footage gets converted to DV and rendering will also cause some lost when it is all eventually transferred to DVD. Now the question is, I have a contract for shooting footage, not for editing footage that I did not create, what, if any issues should I cover in the contract? The next question will be: Can I use my D8 camera to transfer the analog footage or should I use my Dazzle Hollywood DV and use the D8 or the TRV65 for playback? The last question, how much will be a fair price to edit 7-10 8mm tapes? Should I charge by the hour or a complete price as a package? Thanks all, as always I know you guys will be helpful.
