Another "loaded" one :-)

Hey Folks...I've made many phone calls and email inquiries about this next question and I'm fully aware of the endless variables to determine stuff BUT here goes anyway. How do you folks come up with your price structure? I would like to offer package prices as well as be able to give a fair, hourly rate for videography and editing (individually). My "stills" pricing is established on a day rate. I am more use to how the motion picture biz works so need some guidance on the video biz which is much more localized for this kind of work. Here are some sample categories: corporate, local commercials, birthday parties, events, video models portfolios, etc. Any ideas, advice, the usual greatly appreciated. BTW, I'm spending waaaayyyyy to much time reading these posts, not getting nearly enough sleep, but WOW this is sooooo helpful and entertaining :-) Hubby is sleeping ...lol

You have to see what the market can handle. Start high, and this way there'll be room for deals. Plus think of "package deals:" photos and video. Never short-change yourself, because people believe that they get for what they pay for.

No doubt 'brother Frank'. So far seems like the range is based roughly on $60-85 per hour. What's it like in your market?

I've got a day rate, a half day rate, and an hourly rate, for videography, videography plus full gear (lighting, sound, 2 cameras, etc), and editing. And of course for any longer project, I'd work out a package price.

The actual dollar figure depends on where you live and who your clients are. Call arounnd, find out what other people charge.
