I really hope this isn't even close to the D200 in terms of features, speed, or quality (just bought my D200 2 weeks ago!!!) I think its rather stupid of them to have another 10.2MP camera, they're going to cannibalize their D200 market, that was a huge benefit over the D70S. If it is nicer, I just might have a D200 for sale :(

Well, I'm pre-shopping for a SLR to add to our arsenol for weddings and such. I heard new stuff was coming out, I guess the rumors were true. I'll probably buy around fall of this year so hopefully most of the cameras will be out by then. I'm looking at the N200 atm.

I was looking to move up to a camera just a little above the D70. This might fit the bill.

There should be an interesting surprise or two accompanying this camera, one of which is speculated to be a VR kit lens. Quote:

They had to slip that one in there to appeal to our emotions. Otherwise, we just wouldn't be interested right. |

I was a little too caught up in the Canon G1/A1 announcements today to notice leaked images of the new Nikon this morning.
Picture of Nikon D80 in comparison to Nikon D200 It's a bit smaller than some had anticipated, but if this scale is correct, it appears to have an even larger LCD than the D200, and the same viewfinder. Very choice. There are some other pics floating around various photo forums which show the D80 with a new lens that has yet to be identified. I think the best guess so far is that it's an 18-105, no VR. Oh yeah, and it looks like it's going to use SD cards, no more CF. |
