need new mini digicam, SD300?

Hey all
I'm thinking about buying a Canon SD300 for my new mini digital camera. I'm a long time Digital Elph (S100) user and am wondering if anyone here has had experience with both the S### and SD### series of digiElph cameras. Besides having to buy SD cards, is there any reason I would want to buy the larger S500 over the smaller SD300, besides the slight megapixel difference?

Also, and this is mostly for Chris, based on Canon's dates of releasing cameras in the past, when are we likely to see the SD400? Any big camera shows Canon would display new products at coming up soon?

Thanks!

I'd go for the SD300 with its compact size and better movie mode. I know most don't use the movie modes on their digital cameras but I've been in plenty of situations where some video is better than no video. The SD300 has the ability to capture 640x480 video at 30fps until the card fills up. The only sore point with a cam like this (or any mini for that matter) is the amount of red-eye.

Below is a 18.2MB VGA movie @ 30fps from the SD300 (dcresource.com)

Right click and save target as

A little bit larger cam worth mentioning is the Canon Powershot SI IS with its 10X optical zoom and image stabilization.

Hey Tommy. I agree, I love movie modes. I was looking at the DCResource site last night and saw that clip already. :)

ALthough a good camera, the S1 is too big for my purposes with this. I literaly want it to fit in my back pocket.
