HP Designjet 130
Anyone know how the 130 stacks up against other popular photo printers?

John, here is a link to Fred Miranda for some comments on the HP printer. Most are favorable. I prefer the Epson printers.

I decided to go for the Epson 2200 based 100% on YOUR recommendation, Jeff. So if I miss out on a huge account because my printer's too small... well, it's going to get ugly around here

I think you're going to love the 2200, John. I've really enjoyed mine.
If you choose to use it via conventional print driver methods be sure to download Epson's latest profiles for best results. You'll find them accessible on Epson's 2200 support page.

Thanks, Ken. I'll visit Epson's site and download the latest profile.
Actually, you and Jeff both influenced my decision since both of you have touted the 2200 in the past. I like to make large prints and that was the catalyst for the interest in the 130, but it was edged out by the 2200 in quality ratings. For now, whenever I need larger prints, I can just take them to a local printer. In Tokyo, I had a great Canon printer that isn't sold over here in the States. Couldn't bring it with me because I'd then be forever ordering ink cartridges from Japan since they're intentionally made not to match cartridges made outside the Japanese market. Dang. But now I'm looking forward to my 2200 arriving tomorrow. Thanks again for the information. |
