Cleaner files ??
I know, I've been asking a lot stupid questions lately but I have an excuse, it's because I'm stupid. So here goes,, I'm crusin' the 1D MK II forums and a see where a guy ask how big a 1D print can go. He said he had a 10D and wanted to know how big he could print a file from a 4 MP canon 1D. The person that answered his question said at least 24 x 20 and mayby 20 x 30 depending on the crop. He went on to say that even though the 1D had fewer pixels than the 10D the file was "cleaner" and "sharper" and equaled the 10D.
Is that true and how does that work ?? Thanks for any help |

Given the same lens, the same exposure etc, I dont buy that the 1D is sharper then the 10D when it comes to enlargement. I think the critical aspect is shooting at a low ISO, using a top notch lens (L's rock) and knowing how to tweak in Photoshop. I just sent a tweaked image out to netpix.com to blow up to 20x30---the results were outstanding--shot with a 10D, 100ISO, f.8 17-40mm L series lens.
Where the 1D beats the 10 D is on speed of focus, ability to shoot consecutive shots, weather proofing and a couple of other things I am probably forgetting. With the right glass, both cameras give you brilliant images. |
