EOS-1Ds and firewire
EOS-1Ds apparently has a firewire 1394 port
is this just used for dumping stills or in monitor mode does it deliver video if so at what resolution? has anyone tried running it to a NLE?

FireWire is only for transferring image files. There is no monitor mode. An NTSC/PAL analog output is available for viewing the images.

LOL ... remember 1Ds is a camera and not a camcorder. The FW connection is for downloading images but also for remotely controlling the camera. In a studio setting, you can have the camera hooked up to your computer, shoot an image directly from the camera, download the image instantly, and review it at 100%.
