expectations for 2004
It appears photokina is at the end of September 2004, What is the norm on a photokina year to introduce new equipment, wait until photokina?? I am very interested in what will be next. I am hoping epsons archival ink printers will get a boost in horizontal rez and a larger paper size but I think they are very good now (one of Jeff's post mentioned his printer setting of epson 2200 so he might heckle me for that). A printed photograph to me (in my opinion folks) is photography. A print has mass, it can be displayed in different lighting, it has and always will be the meat of photography to me. When digital came along it was neat, but to me personally digital photography lacked the longevity and depth of photo paper. Yes one could send it out, but to me that ended digitals advantage. The deep red's of a rose or the shadows in the curves of a womans body was not the same knowing the photo would not last. All of this is begining to change with inks that allow people to create works that will be around a long time. Combine that with the quality of a camera with a pleasing viewfinder and quality capture and digital to me has finally arrived. The 1Ds is here just not to my budget yet, so this years camera's and printers will be very interesting to me!!!
