Has anyone ran this yet?
I didn't see any improvement that motivated me to upgrade. Is there a failsafe if the firmware upgrade fails? I've lost a lot of computer gear over the years from firmware mishaps.. |

Is this the same update that has existed for months?
I can't remember the details, but I thought that for 98% of users it wasn't necessary. I am always a bit skittish about "updating" to disaster.

I've run it and it is very safe. I've only seen a few reports of problems and none fatal to the camera. However, all it adds is a new printer support protocol. Most people will never need it. It will also reset all your settings to default and if you format you card in your computer (rather than the camera) it will reset you file numbering to zero.
