I'm a Nikon guy, but the 5DM2 blows this camera away on a cost/performance basis.

Paul's assessment is spot-on; the D3X is way overpriced for what you get and doesn't even have the ultra-high ISO capabilities of the D700. Nikon's flagship cameras have always come in around $5500; why Nikon decided to price this into the realm of the 1Ds MkIII makes no sense and has alienated all but the serious pros on cost alone.
If you're a Nikon shooter the D700 is currently the best bang-for-the-buck available. If you're considering which platform to use, the Canon "5D2" as it's being referred to is king of the hill. For now. I plan on getting the lens adapter for my specialty Nikkors and using them on the 5D2. |
