WANTED: 7 People for a Steadicam Workshop in the San Francisco/Sonoma/Napa, CA area!

Hey everyone,

A friend of mine and I are trying to organize a group of people to do a Steadicam workshop either in San Francisco or up here in Sonoma (an hour north of SF, in the beautiful wine country.)

Tiffen will set up a workshop at a location of your choice if you have a group of 9 people. Cost is $500 each, which covers the two-day workshop.

I am hoping to do this sometime in December, depending on the people who are interested in attending, and of course Tiffen's schedule.

PLEASE let me know ASAP if you are interested. E-mail meeksdigital (at) me (dot) com only if you are seriously interested and I will start making arrangements once 7 people have contacted me.

IN THE SUBJECT LINE of your e-mail, please mention "Steadicam Workshop," and in the body, please send me your contact info as well as the dates in december that you would be available (Anytime within the first three weeks of the month - We won't do this near Christmas, don't worry!)

I look forward to hearing from you guys!

Hi Trevor,

I did the same thing for the NYC area around 18 months ago, and it worked!

Some things I found out along the way:

1) Post to other forums as well as here. I posted
on 3 forums and we got 9 people within 2 weeks.

2) If you haven't already, contact the instructor directly,
The Steadicam Workshops authorized by Tiffen instructed by Peter Abraham
and let him know what you are doing. He might know of some other people in your general area that are interested, and he can give you an idea of when and where he might be able to do a workshop.

More info on the 2-day workshop here:
Twp Day Steadicam Flyer Workshop Programs authorized by Tiffen instructed by Peter Abraham

We actually got people from hundreds of miles away, since that was the closest 2-day workshop in their time frame.

Hope this helps.

Trevor: friendly "reminder" - have you factored in the cost of a venue to hold the workshop in? $500 is cheap - too cheap in my opinion. Get a venue, get some juices and light snacks catered and price it accordingly. UNLESS Tiffen won't let you.

I would love to come but I'm from Belgium. So it's just a little bit to far... :)

Kind regards and a lot of good luck with the workshop!

The program, as far as I know, is entirely run by Tiffen. All of the 2-day workshops are $500, and the money goes directly to Tiffen. At least that was how it was when Dave started the one I went to. The money covered the venue, some snacks, and the workshop itself.

Thanks Tom. Wow, at $500 that's a steal!

Sillmotion is doing a few in Canada and they are charging $550... since it is held at their studio I am not sure what the extra $50 covers? Food?

But it is the same Pilot/Flyer w/Peter Abraham training... Either way - $500, $550, $600 - a good deal!

Hi Ray, see this thread! http://www.dvinfo.net/forum/stabiliz...th-2009-a.html

Charles Papert will be teaching the workshop, and we have people coming from as far as South Carolina and Florida! If you can make it, it will be a great weekend. Let me know of you're interested :-)

Take care!
