Suggestions for wiring up Magiqcam

Hi,
Just got a Magiqcam IIa (after 9 1/2 weeks) and I am trying to figure out how to best cable the monitor to the camera. I had asked John at Animagique about drilling at the top of the post and he said that was fine, but looking at it I am a little hesitant since the post is rather small diameter. Anyone have any other suggestions or methods that work well. I've tried tying the cable along the outside of the post but run into the problem of cable snag on the gimbal handle at the top limiting freedom of motion.

thanks,
Matt
