Question: Steadicam DV-what ever happened to it?
There used to be a successor to the Steadicam JR--the Steadicam DV.
From the pictures I've seen of it...it addressed some of the "shortcomings" with the JR --a quick release plate and the ability to hold heavier cameras. But what happened to it? Expensive? Probably... close to eight hundred or nine hundred I remember... How many did they make and why did they stop making it? If Tiffen were to improve on it and perhaps make it a Steadicam DV -lite(no monitor) and sell it for less... It would be somethng I would definitely consider to ever replace my old/newly resurrected "frankenstein" JR(with parts I purchased off eBay) Anybody know? |

John:
The DV had a flawed design and was retired. It didn't work well and broke a lot. The JR is a bit long in the tooth...look for Tiffen to introduce a new DV handheld stabilizer in the next year.
