Will a z1 fully loaded be ok with a Merlin?

Hallo, i wanted to know if a HVRZ1 with wide angle and np970 battery on could be carried by a Merlin.I know tha max weight the Merlin could carry is 2,5 kg so i suppose i'm out of the game.What about if next year i wanna change camcorder to buy an EX1 or a Z7?

Could you? It's the high end of possible.

Would you want to? I'd suggest popping open a can of spinach before you do, Popeye.

Could it work with an EX1? That adds at least a pound over your current camera, taking you further outside the envelope of safety.

Adding the Merlin vest and arm will make this combination much more pleasant.

Yes it could be done, i did fly Z1 with WA and np970 on handheld Merlin, but you'll need an additional weight or better yet accessory plate, and it might be heavy;
bare EX1 with BPu30 and nothing else is still doable with the accessory plate on merlin, but that's where I decided to get pilot, Merlin's plastic handle was falling apart and the gimbal is not designed for that weight, later I got Blackbird fo quick steady shots, it can handle EX1, bp-u60, WA lens and light, of course if you can handle that,
:)
