Merlin on a monopod
I was wondering if anyone thought about some kind of monopod type device to use with a heavy Merlin config.
My thinking is some kind of pole so I can rest the unit for stationary shots. If it had some kind of suspension/hydrolic foot it could also work live moving from a seated position to mobile situation without judder. Anyone tried something like this? |

I'm new to the Merlin world, but I built a small adapter that I've been able to mount onto my monopod.
I haven't had a chance to use it yet, but it's a simple way to connect the Merlin to the monopod via a quick release, with enough offset so the Merlin doesn't bang into the monopod. I'll try to make some photos of the rig later today and post them here. |

As promised, here's a page that shows some photos of the offset arm I made for using the Merlin on a monopod or tripod. The page shows the parts and fabrication details.
