Air Pods
So Apple's announcement this week got me to thinking... could a pair of Air Pods work as two individual microphones to record an event/actiity with an iPhone/iPad? Sure, it's not a good idea to share earphones, but with proper cleaning, these could be a great compact, on location setup.

Re: Air Pods
You could confirm your workflow with a standard pair of ear pods. However, that provides just one mic input. I don't know if the Air Pods send two discrete signals to apps. My guess is that they send both signals to the OS, it uses the two mics for noise reduction and error recovery and it sends a single signal to the apps. So it would work for a monologue but not necessarily a dialog.
