By any chance are you performing your tests on a 16GB IPhone 6? I was having issues with dropped frames and stuttering during playback with Filmic Pro. This is a known issue (to Filmic Pro folks) and this seems to happen mainly with the 16GB model, especially if you don't have much storage space left on your device.

Send Filmic people a question. They are very responsive. Also make sure app is most updated version.

And you no doubt know that 4K eats a ton of space on your phone.
