PIX240 Firmware Wishlist

Since the recorder will be hitting the streets in the very near future I thought I would start this thread to collect info regarding any bugs/features that should be considered in the future. I'm kicking it off with the items that I've noticed from my using the recorder. I'll edit this post to add any requests to the list and credit the contributor.

I have to state that I don't work for the manufacturer or have any connection with them.

This list is based on v1.02 of the firmware.

1. Support for the Sony SDI remote record flag.
2. Ability to use XLR inputs on recorder along with embedded SDI audio.
3. Support for 1080p60. - Not possible with current hardware
4. Support for 3G SDI signals - Not possible with current hardware
5. Support for CF cards other than SanDisk

Re: PIX240 Firmware Wishlist

If those options are not supported and its monitor isn't "SO HOT" due to visual quality and with focusing options such as peaking, the Pix240 is not particularly compelling.

Any recorder making its debut this year had better support near-term HD possibilities, such as 1080p60 or 720p120, with hardware support for 3G SDI.

I can't believe the Pix240 doesn't offer four channel recording by allowing its XLR jacks to replace any two channels in an 8 channel audio stream. This feature alone is worth its purchase over a Nanoflash. As much as I love my Nanoflash, I HATE using additional recorders such as the Edirol R4 Pro when I need 1-2 channels.

Re: PIX240 Firmware Wishlist

SD told me using the XLRs PLUS SDI audio will be available in an upcoming firmware release. They didn't indicate when.

Does this mean the recorder won't be able to support the 1080p feed out of the upcoming FS700's 3G-SDI port?

Re: PIX240 Firmware Wishlist

It will do up to 30p since that is possible over 1.5g.

It can not do 60p because it requires 3g.

The physical interface is 1.5g only.
