canon or new sony lenses?
for use with FS7 II shooting 4K, would it be better images with the newer SONY 24-70mm, 70-200mm or the Canon 24-70, 70-200mm lenses? Meaning sharper, better bokeh, etc

Re: canon or new sony lenses?
Hi Kent,
I own the Sony GM 24-70 and GM 70-200 lens but prefer my Fujinon MK 18-55 on my FS7. I will be using the 70-200 on the FS7 at times, but the MK is an amazing lens for the price and built for the camera. And if you need longer they have the MK 50-135. You can not go wrong with that combo on a FS7, so much better then the GM glass. GM glass is great on my A7RIII but that is a different beast. Also going to try this weekend the MK 18-55 on the A7RIII, never know till I try. Give the MK a look and if you can go try it you might just get hooked on a proper Cine lens. |

Re: canon or new sony lenses?
If you want a better look from your lenses, better ergonomics, a better "feel" for focusing, etc. forget about SLR lenses and take a look at some of the really nice cinema lenses out there. Full Manual with no electronics whatsoever is usually the dividing line between lenses that I enjoy working with and lenses that I don't enjoy. Can you get by with SLR lenses? Yes, but the cinema lenses are like driving a BMW vs. a Kia.

Re: canon or new sony lenses?
Kent,
MK lens are E-mount so no adapters, which I do not like to use. The lens also has a back focus adjustment which is great. It is parfocal, and very sharp. On the FS7 I now shoot everything in SLOG. With the MK 18-55 it is fast, and easy to dial in exposure, and focus. Best lens for the money for the FS7 in my opinion. Good luck in your search. |

Thanks again. I’ll probably get the pair 18 through 135

Re: canon or new sony lenses?
I think you will be happy with that choice and it will cover 90% of your shooting.
Let us know what you think of them? |
