FS5 Auto ND
I've upgraded to version 2 firmware and I was trying to enable Auto ND.
I followed the instructions in the V2 manual but Auto ND is still disabled in the menu. Has anyone had any success with this? |

Re: FS5 Auto ND
Have you got the switches on the side of the camera set to ND and Variable and the ND filter in?

Re: FS5 Auto ND
Sorry if this is obvious...but you have to assign a button (within the Camera Setup Menu functions) so that Auto ND can be switched On or Off - and then activate it by turning it on! Have you done this?
As an aside, I currently use the button called Picture Profile by Sony - as I almost always shoot with Doug Jensen's 'Vortex FS5 Pro' profile now/rarely have need to change that. I should also add that I rarely use this new Auto ND feature (or indeed Auto anything), much preferring to adjust manually with the original Variable ND feature - adjusting exposure at any chosen Iris setting via the scroll wheel on the left hand, controls side of the camera. Superb way to shoot!

Re: FS5 Auto ND
No I haven't done that Andy. I don't recall seeing that in the release notes either.
By the way, where can I find details if Doug's profile? |

Re: FS5 Auto ND
Well that's why you can't get the Auto ND to work then!
More info about Picture Profiles here. There are other threads about Picture Profiles - and indeed anything you want to use/learn about on your FS5. The simple to use Forum Search function is your friend :-) http://www.dvinfo.net/forum/sony-xdc...files-fs5.html

Re: FS5 Auto ND
Hi John. Have you had a resolution to this yet?

Re: FS5 Auto ND
An update after a protracted absence …
“Auto ND” now functions correctly, almost … My only issue is that when “Auto ND” is on, I don’t get the value of the ND filter with an “A” symbol in the VF. There no indication of the ND value at all. If I switch “Auto ND” off, then the ND filter value is displayed. Images show the VF with “Auto ND” switched off and then on. I’m on firmware version 4.03. |

Re: FS5 Auto ND
Fixed.
I had “Camera Data Display” set to ‘Off’. |
