Need a little help turning off some auto features
My FS5 turned up a few days ago and I've started to work my way through the manual as I experiment with it. However I'm starting to wonder if there could be a problem with the camera.... or more likely my understanding of how to use it.
A couple of times I have found one of the 'auto' features will not come out of auto when I press the dedicated physical button. So for example I was playing around with the Super Slow Motion and noticed the image was overexposed because the iris was locked at f4 whilst showing the auto icon next to it and the ISO at 10,000, again with the auto icon next to it. Now I know these all get locked in the S&Q mode, so I came out of it but for some reason I could not deselect auto iris or auto ISO. I checked all the obvious culprits and didn't have Full Auto selected nor was face detection switched on. Focus was set to auto however. In the end I'm pretty sure (but I was trying various things.. so not 100% sure) that I got both of them out of auto by pressings Fn5 (Direct Menu) and then deselecting auto with the up/down motion on the hand grip mini-joystick. I think I ran into a similar scenario a day or so back, but because I hadn't read much of the manual, assumed it was a safety feature I would soon learn to override. So is it me, the camera or is there some combination that stops you manually turning off things like auto iris or ISO via the dedicated buttons? I suspect I am in for a 'doh' moment! |
