.MXF to .MOV?
FS5 in XAVC-HD produces MXF clips. I can edit fine with these in Premiere Pro.
In the Finder, I can't "preview" (see a thumbnail or even play a few seconds) of these clips. With the FS-100 (my old camera) we were using ClipWrap to re-wrap MXF files as MOVs, there was no data loss (just a re-wrap), and they were more versatile. ClipWrap won't work with the new MXF files. Anything that can help fix this? |

Re: .MXF to .MOV?
Have you looked at Catalyst Browse as a viewing utility?

Re: .MXF to .MOV?
I've found that this software "kind-of" works to view the files. There doesn't seem to be a good way at this time outside of Sony Catalyst.

Re: .MXF to .MOV?
As Dave says, get Catalyst Browse. It's free and does a lot more than just serve as a viewer. Problem solved.
Frankly I can't see how someone could own one of the Sony cameras and not use Catalyst Browse.

+1 on Catalyst Browse - you can't beat free.
For what it's worth, EditReady - the $49 successor to ClipWrap - will also play/convert these files (in addition to offering several other features). |

Re: .MXF to .MOV?
I was under the impression you had to transcode all FS5 files if you want to use them with Premiere Pro. Can I just confirm XAVC-HD files from a FS5 can be edited by Premiere CC and CS6 without transcoding?

Re: .MXF to .MOV?
Yep. No transcode. Edits fine.
