Sony FS5 Handgrip does not lock solid
When I attach my handgrip i notice a certain amount of "play" regardless of what angle I lock it into. In other words, I release the lock and rotate the grip until it locks again but I can still rotates it a little when I turn it. (it is not a rigid lock.) Is this normal? I saw somewhere you can add an Arri rosette to it. Is that what I need to get a better feel?
Edit: OK, I see the Arri Rosette is so you can extend the handgrip like the FS7. Last edited by Michael Stevenson; January 15th, 2016 at 05:19 PM. |

Re: Sony FS5 Handgrip does not lock solid
Yep, normal. I noted this with my FS5 some time ago and indeed others have too on their FS5s.
In any of the 9 locked positions the handle will rotate with a play of about 2mm. Really wish it did not...but I love the speed and ease at which you can adjust the angle. I guess this is one of the compromises that comes with this bayonet design. My C100's hand grip is rock solid when in any of its chosen positions - but a total pain to adjust on the fly (so I never do). The rotating grip on my PMW-300 (and my old EX3) have/had much less play than the FS5, basically none.
