Custom Scene File to match the LC709TypeA LUT
I recently decided to create a scene file to match the look of the LC709typeA LUT. I think I've come pretty close and some beta testers love it, but I welcome any other feedback. The advantage with this scene file is that you get full white balance control, noise reduction, it uses S-LOG2 for better highlight handling, and its just plain easier to use. If you're one of the people who likes baking-in the LC709typeA LUT while shooting, I invite you to give this alternative a test drive.
You can download it here: Sony FS7 Scene File to match LC-709typeA LUT

Re: Custom Scene File to match the LC709TypeA LUT
No, the menu settings required for this scene file do not even exist on the FS5. However I'll be releasing a few FS5 scene files in January in conjunction with my upcoming FS5 training video series which is already in production.

Looking forward to your training video, Doug. What do you think of the FS5 so far?

Re: Custom Scene File to match the LC709TypeA LUT
Hello Doug:
As a satisfied customer of your training video on the FS7, I try to follow your exposure guidelines when shooting with your profiles, so when I try out this new scene file I have to ask: Did you put 90% white card at 90 IRE on zebras, or 88 IRE like your Run & Gun profile? Thanks for taking the time to build this scene file. |

And I just read in your notes to put zebras at 85-90. Sorry, jumped the gun.

Re: Custom Scene File to match the LC709TypeA LUT
Please let me know what you think of the file. Especially if you have the time to compare the LUT and my Scene File head to head on the same shot. Do they match? And don't forget -- anytime you switch from Cine EI back to Custom you must reload the scene file because the camera does not remember the paint settings. One of the FS7's many annoying firmware flaws that Sony is not addressing.
