4k monitors?
I recently bought an inexpensive monitor for my fs7. While my Fs100 plays fine through this and a Sony HD tv I have at home, the FS 7 wouldn't play through either.
I took the camera over to tiger direct and tried the FS 7 on several similar monitors, with the same results. Then I tried it on a couple of 4k (uhd) monitors, like the Samsung model u28d590d, and it played fine, both in 1920 and uhd. So here's my question: Once the firm ware update is available and we can record full 4k internally, will it still play through monitors such as this Samsung? There are many of these monitors advertised as "4k" but are really uhd. Thanks Bruce Yarock |

Re: 4k monitors?
You need to set the HDMI output to the correct mode I'd suspect. Playing UHD into a HD only screen doesn't get you far.

Re: 4k monitors?
Not sure if my question was clear
What I'd like to find out is, if I get a uhd monitor, I can play either HD or uhd ( what they call 4k. Then when the new firmware is ready, the camera while record full 4k internally. Will one of these uhd monitors still work, if the fs7 records in full 4k? Bruce Yarock |

Re: 4k monitors?
LG makes a IPS monitor 4096x2160 its around $1300.00 I bought two of them over the weekend. I will try connecting the monitor direct to the FS7 tonite after I install the 2.0 firmware.

Re: 4k monitors?
Brian, Are you going to use the monitors for editing? If so I would be interested in your opinion of them. I am looking for new monitors. I am using Sony Vegas Pro 13. All the best, James

Re: 4k monitors?
The LG 31MU97-B 31" looks great in Sony Vegas and Photo Shop the text size on the menus are small. I think the text can be enlarged in the windows settings. I connected my FS7 via HDMI, play back and live view worked in the 4096 x 2160 24p mode, it did not work with 60p.

Re: 4k monitors?
Thanks! How are you configuring your two monitors? Will one be just for playback off the time line?
Enjoy them, James
