HD-SDI playback of recorded files?
I needed to feed some F3 video at a satellite facility yesterday, where they wanted to use HD-SDI to upload the HD material. (1080, 30p)
While the camera would happily show the live camera image on that output, it would not display any of the playback, despite our rapidly paging through the camera manual in search of a workable setting. We then tried the SDI BNC port, which seemed to work flawlessly; the satellite station read the output at the same HD rate as the source material. Did we just miss a crucial setting, or is the HD-SDI port disabled during playback...maybe to keep you from recoding previously shot clips onto an external recorder while reviewing the previous shots? |

Re: HD-SDI playback of recorded files?
1080P30 is not a broadcast signal (it is 3Gbps, not 1.5Gbps) so likely the output would need to be 1080i60.
Never used an F3 but likely there is a menu setting for "downconvert" to 1080i.

Re: HD-SDI playback of recorded files?
Thanks, Shaun. In this case, it was just raw video from the shoot being fed, so they wanted it in progressive mode for later editing.. However; I don't think we ever tried any of the 3G modes in the menu..
