Simultaneous S-Log +SDI + HDMI?
Hi,
My camera just went out on a rental, and they need HDMI for EVF, S-Log, and 59.94 SDI output via the monitoring SDI tap. Normally this isn't something you can do when S-Log is enabled via the output menu (the "old" s-log enable menu) If you enable s-log via Picture Profile, (and turn off s-log 1.5G mode) do these output constraints go away? Does anybody feel like checking this for me since my body is not in my hands?

Re: Simultaneous S-Log +SDI + HDMI?
Hi Nate - had a similar issue at work when we rented an F3 out. Client had a HDMI monitor they wanted to feed to, an sdi EVF, and an SDI external recorder. Recorder needed a clean signal, but cam op wanted a signal with camera data overlaid, going to the evf.
With the F3, It feels like the SDI A + B ports and the SDI & HDMI are on two separate circuits. I think theres no way to have the SDI tap and HDMI on at the same time, as they're on the same circuit - it has to be one or the other. In the end, we compromised- SDI A clean to external recorder, and then daisy chained SDI from the external recorder to EVF. Although cam op was seeing a clean signal, he could still see when he was rolling as the evf read the sdi timecode and displayed that on screen. EVF could also generate its own guide frames. HMDI feed from F3 then went to external monitor for the director. Could really have done with all 3 outputs working from the F3. Its a pain- youd think if a camera has outputs, they should be able to all work at once, instead of having to choose. Mind you, it wouldn't be an issue if hdmi stuff hadnt started creeping into the pro equipment... hope you / your client finds a workaround |

Re: Simultaneous S-Log +SDI + HDMI?
The F3 has only 2 hardware video encoders. The limitation on which outputs that can be active simultaneously is hardware based.
You can have any 2 video signals you like but not 3.
