I used for this short one lens the Nikon 17-35mm F2.8 AF-S ED no vignette at 17.

Yes, I saw that. I need to know about the Nikon 17-55mm lens if it vignettes. It is a G type lens.

I don't know about this lens I use all Nikon AIS primes on the F3 and I don't have any vignette so I think the same for that lens.

The G only indicates that its the lens type where Nikon was economizing by leaving off the aperture ring and a few other things.
The 17-55mm is definitely a DX while the 17-35mm is an AF-S D lens. The 17-35 has room to spare. I know Steve Miric uses a 17-55mm on his F3 and likes it, but I haven't tried it. |

Nope, I've been shooting with the 17-55 and haven't seen any vignette.

Re: Does the Nikon 17-55 vignette at 17mm on the Sony F3
Thank you for your reply. Are you happy with the 17-55 and is it sharp at 2.8 at all? Any info you have with the 17-55 and your F3 would be great. I have been using my F3 with my Zeiss super speeds but I want a general lens for one man band traveling. I have the Canon Century 20-35 modified zoom but the zoom is not smooth anymore and it is f3.5 max.

I use this lens since June on my F3. It does not vignette, and serves as my "normal" lens for everything and anything. Very sharp, with good control of flare. Ideal size for what I do as well.

Re: Does the Nikon 17-55 vignette at 17mm on the Sony F3
I am quite happy with it. Matches nicely with the Nikon 80-200, almost zero breathing. I haven't shot a chart, but judging from real world footage, it stays very sharp all the way to 2.8. I compared it with a couple cheaper lenses in the same range and it blew them out of the water on sharpness, breathing, and build quality. I haven't really compared it to spendier cine zooms in the same range, like the Red, but I have been really pleased. It is my default verite lens, and I keep the 80-200 handy to grab tight coverage.

Re: Does the Nikon 17-55 vignette at 17mm on the Sony F3
Thank you all for your replies. I bought the lens and used on a job for shots of NYC at night and Christmas and it covers and is very sharp. The Red lens you refer to is actually made by Sigma and rehoused by Red for a $4500 mark up. It also has no cover flat glass for the front and gets dust in the center zoom group. Thanks for everything.
