F-3 mount system
I saw an interesting mount system for the Sony F-3 at a rental house here in Toronto. I used a regular F-3 with Zeiss primes over the weekend and saw a new mount on the other cameras when I returned the kit. Joe Sutherland showed me a new mount systems with rails, handles and the Sony tripod plate that is fabricated by SA. It’s the same company that makes the EX-3 plates but these mounts were designed for better alignment with the F-3s. Joe was putting the finishing touch on the follow focus system and he’s just waiting for the black anodized versions with shoulder pads. The camera was a little front heavy with a monitor on top but should be much better when he gets the Zacuto EVFs to complete his kits. Most of his F-3s have zoom lenses.
I took the photos to show what the mounts look like. The locks are solid and the back can be adjusted for better balance. I think that this will enable the F-3 to be more versatile for the times when you need hand held shots. Last edited by Peter Mykusz; April 19th, 2011 at 08:06 AM. Reason: to add photos |

Re: F-3 mount system
You mightn't be able to focus your eyes that close, but you could use the LCD as long as you weren't relying on it for checking focus when handholding.
