PXW-X180 Remote/Lanc
I just upgraded my NX5U cameras to the PXW-X180. The camera's are awesome, except I'm having trouble getting a lanc to work. We already own the Sony RM1BP and the Varizoom VZ-Pro. Both seem to be having issues with the camera. I have tested multiple lancs with different cameras and I'm getting the same result.
Is there a menu setting I'm missing on the camera, or is there a compatible lanc that will work? The Sony is recommended, but isn't working. Thanks! |

Re: PXW-X180 Remote/Lanc
I have an old (/ancient?) Manfrotto 521 lanc zoom control - it has a sticker on it that says 521B compatible - that works fine with my PXW-X180.
'Works fine' means that the zoom rocker works, I can start or stop recording, and if the camera is set to the 'manual/servo' focus mode (lens focus ring clicked forward) I can adjust focus with the remote. How old is the control? -- not sure... I either bought it back when I had a V1U (pre-EX1) or even before that when I would have used it with my PD-150! One thing that is wierd about the 180 is that the Lanc plug on the camera is just below the headphone channel select switch, so at first glance it would appear to be a headphone out... |
