Does anyone know if the the Sony PMW 300K2 w. the 16x lens is available anywhere yet in the US, or when it might be available for purchase?

Thanks!

It's been available in Australia for a long time now, and I would imagine you should be able to order it in the USA right now if you wanted to.

Thanks. I can't seem to find the 16x lens package anywhere in the US. This lens would be huge for TV stations on the fence with camera buying decisions. That extra length would be a good way to get news companies to buy in bulk. It would help with Sports too.

At the moment I am finding the 14x lens to be just enough. Bear in mind that the 16x K2 lens doesn't have image stabilisation built in.

Buying the standard PMW300 and adding the K2 lens will be a good idea if the cost of the K2 lens
is not far beyond the difference between the two models.

Agreed. I think I may need that extra length for some sports shoots.

Thanks

Still searching for the K2 lens in the USA. Anyone have any luck finding it anywhere? I can't seem to track it down.

Thanks

Re: Sony PMW300 "K2"

Mike,

I have been shooting with the PMW-300 since May and with the standard lens when I really need IS. If you want an upgrade in lens buy a nice 1/2" like I did. Found a Canon KH10ex3.6 IRSE SX12 which is fantastic lens for $3,500. It brings the camera to a different level.

Mike,

You will probably have to ask for the K2 variant when quoting/ordering a PMW-300. It should be easy enough to obtain.
