Noob question about UDF and SxS Cards
Hello guys.
I've recently bought a PWM-200 and i've read that recording in UDF system it's only possible with an SxS card. Is something like this, right ? File:SxS.jpg - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia But do i need to have to buy any other card to insert in the SxS card? Thank you. |

Re: Noob question about UDF and SxS Cards
No.
But you can buy an XQD card and adapter to use instead of SxS. SxS isn't the only option for UDF. |

Re: Noob question about UDF and SxS Cards
Basically, an SxS card doesn't need another card because it is already the card, right?
But excluding SxS card, other ones are adapters for memory cards? Thank you. |

Re: Noob question about UDF and SxS Cards
Sd cards with adapter do not work in UDF and therefore you canot record in XAVC.

Re: Noob question about UDF and SxS Cards
Sory for the confusion - thought PMW-200 and PMW-300 was as related as EX1 and EX3 . I was wrong in that! My PMW-400 and PMW-F5 do only work with XAVC in UDF mode.

Bo,
Are you happy with the PMW-400? I am looking into one now that it will have XAVC. |

Re: Noob question about UDF and SxS Cards
What about all the new Extreme Pro SDXC cards coming out from SanDisk and Toshiba? I have ordered my XQD cards and adapters but now was wondering about the above.

Re: Noob question about UDF and SxS Cards
Actually the F5/F55 are ExFat. Not sure about the PMW-400 but I think that is ExFat as well, Sony are shifting away from UDF and to ExFat on the newer cameras. Fewer compatibility issues with ExFat.
You can use SD cards for FAT but not UDF, so it does not matter how fast the card you can't use it for 50Mb/s XDCAM in a PMW-200 unless it is XQD or SxS.
