long run from camera to hdtv
Is it possible since hdtvs don't have hdsdi inputs, can I somehow
Adapt a coaxial to have hdsdi out of camera to hdmi in tv only because its about 150 feet and I've heard that's too long to use hdmi out of camera and get a good signal |

Run HDSDI cable from camera to HDSDI to HDMI converter located next to monitor. Problem solved.

Or HDMI to CAT5 converters if they're cheaper for you than HDSDI.

I have a Blackmagic converter, attached to wide industrial velcro, to the back of my biggest computer monitor so it's "out of sight". Yet I have taken it off and used it for big screen tv work a couple of times on corporate gigs. I only ran about 100 feet of cable in those cases. Not sure how much further I can push it but...it was plenty for me then.

HDSDI will go about 900' without problems.

Re: long run from camera to hdtv
this is a one shot job, found black magic and aja converters for 3-400 bucks.
and found this one for about 50.00 Spector by Sewell - SDI to HDMI mini converter - SW-30198, $44.95 are they really that different, I could care less of brand names |

Re: long run from camera to hdtv
How long runs you can do - depend on the cables - most camera do 1,5 gbs HDSDI and it can go for 100meters with a good cable. 3gbs go for 70 meters with a good cable - longer for special cabels and shorter with old composite cable.

Re: long run from camera to hdtv
Thanks for the info Rick.
FWIW...I bought my Blackmagic off of eBay for just over 200 bucks and it was/is like new. One of those things if you keep an eye out for them, they show up at a cost savings.
