Re: EX3 mic holder
This is a frequently asked question - I believe they are "designed" to break (rather than break something which would be far more expensive to repair/replace when force is accidentally applied).
There are lots of (good) solutions - just search "broken mic holder" or similar within the XDCAM EX section and you'll find all the threads in seconds - lots of detail, good suggestions and solutions. However, I personally took my EX3s mic holder off many years ago. For the last 2-3 years have been using the excellent Rycote Invision Video system to hold my Rode NTG-3 and it's WS7 Windshield etc. when I need run-n-gun mic on camera, before that I was using a (not as good) Rode mic support solution. EDIT: There are a few snaps of what it looks like on the EX3 on this page of my website (note that the design has been improved by Rycote since this was written). http://www.shootingimage.co.uk/MoreI.../Invision.html

Re: EX3 mic holder
Thank you for your comments :-)
I worked in Mexico City around 2004-5 (in a previous career) and really enjoyed the place/people/museums/nightlife/food...I could go on. Never got to your city though. About the only thing I did not enjoy was having to have a body guard minding me most of the time (my employer insisted on it as there were a lot of kidnappings of Westerners going on). Other than that, what a great place - one of the most enjoyable countries I've ever worked in :-) Hope you've now got some ideas to replace that mic holder soon.
