ok thanks.. it looks to be the answer for alot of mac users.. also everyone is telling me the 17 inch MBP is long over due for an up date,and not to buy one yet..

It seems the 15" and 17" MBP will be upgraded within just a few weeks with the new ivy bridge chips from Intel. There might be new Thunderbolt controller chips in them as well. My guess is the optical drive (DVD) may be gone too.

thanks for the info.. glad i heeded the advise of others for a change.... current MBP I bought just before thunderbolt came out..!!!

Ideal set up.. 17inch for home.. and air mac with sonnet adaptor for the road..

Sonnet EchoExpress Thunderbolt Adapter SxS Speed Tests. | XDCAM-USER.COM

It's about 3 to 4 times faster than connecting via USB.

And thanks to Sony for the software for the SXS cards.. Iam really surprised at how fast they have actually done this.. I was thinking at least 6 months..
