EX3 VF issue popped up, help please at DVinfo.net

My 3 year old EX3 has just started intermittently doing an odd thing in the Viewfinder that is not going to the card but is still annoying. Has anybody seen theirs sort of act like the VF has been unterminated for a few seconds? I have a project going on and can't stop to send it in for diagnostics--I was thinking of just ordering a new VF for $495 from Sony Service Plus, but I have no idea how to install it--and what if it's a board problem instead? Would Sony take back the new VF and send a board? yikes, I'm in a pickle. Can't be without my cam for 2 to 4 weeks, unless I buy a new one while I wait for this one in repairs in N.J., but new ones are on backorder already. Any ideas out there from you brilliant guys?
