Need Quick answer EX1 import as MXF or MPEG?
Shot footage with a Sony ex1. When using the XDCAM browser and choose import all the files transfer as MPG. If i select the actual clips They at in .MXF what is better? or are they the same or just as good?

Always make a complete copy of your entire BPAV folder. Each BPAV folder should be copied to its own folder.
Once you have made (preferably two different) archive copies of your data, you are ready to export the data. At this point (and not before) you will want to export files that work well with your NLE. What NLE will be used to edit the footage? I edit on PC's using Vegas, so I export to MXF. I also export MXFs for companies I shoot for that edit on Premiere or Avid. For companies that use FCP, I send them a copy of the BPAV folders and they import into FCP directly. |
