EX1 Loss of focus at Infinity

My EX1 has been superb till now. For some reason I now cannot focus at infinity. I have checked the back focus which is fine and Autoflanged under controlled conditions with Seimens charts just in case. This did nothing, the problem is still there. Does anyone have ideas before I contact Sony. By the way classic back focus symptom of soft at wide angle is not present. Will try to work out how to load a picture example later.

Re: EX1 Loss of focus at Infinity

I had a back focus issue with our EX3 (after it took a nose dive off the tripod!) and doing the automatic back focus outlined in the manual fixed the problem. (we were very lucky!)

Re: EX1 Loss of focus at Infinity

Don't backfocus an EX1 or EX3 with a siemens chart, you often won't get good results. Use a flat textured surface such as a brick wall or wall with a patterned wall covering. Make sure the camera is at least 3m (9ft) from the wall, preferably 4m (12ft) or more for best results.

Good luck Bruce, You can always take the EX to the drop-in service center at the Sony Tech Center in Pencoed, one of Sony's best kept secrets!
