CamRade desert suit

Hello Everyone!

First of all I want to thank you all for the great support that you offer. My question today is about the camRade desert suit. I have a shooting in a month in Greece and I am going to be a lot of hours under the hot sun. I found this suit but not that many reviews out there. So, does it work? Any other ideas?

Thank you in advance,
Ilias Papaioannou

Re: CamRade desert suit

On one hand, white reflective material is a good idea.
On the other, anything that traps camera heat may not be so good.
In the past I've had to deal with overheating issues while shooting in Africa, so...
Remember, typical operating specs for cameras list the temperature range as going up to around 107 F. If you're in significantly warmer climates, you're already way beyond that.
Obviously the black camera body absorbs a lot of radiant heat in the sun -- so avoid keeping it in the sun!
A simple sun umbrella can be a huge help - when on a tripod it can shade not only the camera but you as well! (clamp it on a stand and weight it down)
When running around hand-held in the sun, rig something thin and white over the camera. Even a white pillowcase can help (it breathes)
Can't speak about the CamRade, but check it for venting options. Lack of air flow can create overheating problems as well.
Having a backup camera can also be a really good idea, and well worth it. Particularly if you are far away from a rental house.
HTH,

Thank you Dave,

I think that an umbrella and a white cloth can solve the problem with the heat. It makes sense.
