SDHC and SxS reader?
I'm new to the EX-workflow, so forgive me if this is a stupid question: will an SxS reader like this one http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/526430-REG/Sony_SBAC_US10_SBAC_US10_SxS_Memory_Card.html also read SDHC-cards in the appropriate SxS adapter, or is it only meant to read 'real' SxS cards?
As a video hobbyist with no paid video assignments at all, I only want to buy a minimum quantity of the expensive SxS cards, and work with SDHC+adapter most of the time. But I would like one reader to read them all when connected via USB to my Mac Pro. I don't want to use the camera as a reader, in any case. |

Re: SDHC and SxS reader?
My SBAC-US10 will only read real SxS cards so I use a cheap $20 reader for other cards.

What Doug said. I had the same question a while back.... see below.
You need to use an SDHC USB card reader. They are buss powered to it's not that much of an inconvenience to pop it in the front of the Mac Pro and get to work. http://www.dvinfo.net/forum/sony-xdc...nting-mac.html |

Re: SDHC and SxS reader?
So, let me see if I got this right: when I'm going to use the SxS card I'll have tp buy an SBAC-US10 SxS card reader from Sony. Or are there any cheaper ones? And when I use SDHC-cards, I'll have to get another reader, being a very cheap SDHC one. But I do need two separate readers. Correct?

Re: SDHC and SxS reader?
Pretty much.
Mind you, a laptop with an Express 34 Slot can read SxS cards directly. Also, technically, you can attach the camera via USB to the computer and transfer that way. Annoying though. There are a couple of third party readers that can handle SxS cards, but nothing as cheap as the Sony reader that I'm aware of. For SDHC cards, an off the shelf 7in1 cardreader with SDHC slot will do the trick. $30 at Best Buy. Less elsewhere.

Re: SDHC and SxS reader?
Thanks everyone. Now things are perfectly clear. I don't want to use the camera as a reader, and I do have a MacBook Pro with Express card reader, but then again I'm not editing on that laptop, but on a Mac Pro. So I guess I'll have to buy two readers. No problem.
