Lexar dual slot reader for UDMA SDHC ?

Does anyone have hands-on experience with this reader to read SDHC cards from a PMW320: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/537132-REG/Lexar_RW035_001_Professional_UDMA_Dual_Slot_USB.html ?
Or is there an even faster solution via Firewire 800. If yes, are there any external readers that connect to a Mac Pro?

I have this reader and it works perfectly. Didn't find any FireWire 800 alternative.

I also have this reader amongst others. It is OK but HCSD cards are not easy to insert, including Lexars own cards. In fact it ripped the data switch off from one of my Lexar cards and now I can't use the card.

On the plus side it is compact and folds down to a neat size.

SD-cards in general are just too vulnarable, too flimsy. That's the whole problem. In my business - still photography - I have been using professional DSLR camera for some 12 years now and none of them had SD-cards, all Compact Flash. I would hate to use SD-cards in a pro environment, but as video is only a hobby for me, I can live with it.

But if I were to make video my business, I would never trust a SD card. I would only use SxS.

So in my opinion there are no good readers for SDHC-cards. Inserting a flimsy card like that in any device is asking for trouble. That said, I think the dual-port Lexar still is one of the best readers available.

I have not had any reliability problems with SD cards, other than the data switch mentioned. Also as a professional photographer ( just a bit longer than 12 years) I don't have a problem with using either SD or Compact Flash cards - I use both.

Re: Lexar dual slot reader for UDMA SDHC ?

When I mentioned 12 years, I was only referring to the digital era. I've also been doing this silly job a little bit longer, I'm afraid...

Everything depends on the kind of shooting your business requires, of course. As my agency only does concerts (Concertpix' homepage), I would never trust SD cards in our camera's. 90% of our work is in the dark, the heat, amongst an excited crowd and in a hurry. I can put a CF card in my sweaty shirt pocket anytime during a shoot and get it out later sound and safe. I would hate to fumble with a vulnerable SD-card in the dark. It bends and cracks before you know it. Besides, I have no knowledge of pro-grade DSLR's (Canon or Nikon) that use SD-cards. There surely must be a reason for that...

I love SDHC cards for my video hobby, though. No pressure there, because no clients, no business. Another world altogether.

How about Canon 1D mk3/4 and 1Ds mk3?

As a back-up card, yes, but not as primary card.
