Sharing my Story

Hi Folks:

Last year during a short weekend trip with my family in the south regions of Chile in southamerica, we had a car accident. My wife and older kid were fine but my youngest kid 4 years old had a seizure which sent him into the pediatric ICU for a couple of days ( I am an Orthopeadic Surgeon and believe me that there is no worse nightmare than giving the first care to your own child and to see all of this from the patients side). thanks God everything resulted fine, my kid had no consequences, and now that the sand has settled I can tell you about my ripped EX-1.

The camera was in the back of my Escape, with no protection in that moment since we were moving from one placed to another in short distances, it had attached a nanoflash which flew inside the car. and the camera bounced all over the trunk, as you can see from the pictures it had severe structural damage and it didn´t work at all. I sent it to Sony technical service. and it was repaired after 3 months, the camera arrived last week and it´s working in perfect condition. From tech service they said all the external panels where changed and the internal frame that holds the lens, which was fine without damage to the internal elements.

As far as the nanoflash it didn´t have any functional damage at all just a few scratches in the outside.

Apart from the awful experience which turned out fine for all of us. this cameras are great machines holding well to severe damage.

greetings

Glad to here all is well. Most importantly the family is OK, cars and cameras can be fixed or replaced but the family is what counts.

Even though it took 3 months to get your "baby" back it does attest to the toughness of the product.

Again, glad to hear the family is good.

Glad to hear that all went well with your family.
Having your own children involved in accidents is a nightmare.
I drove over my four year old son 10 years ago with a trailer.
Hes fine... but I suffer from PTSD and Im 60% disabled becasue of it.

Material things are nothing in the "Big Picture".
God Bless

Gary

Glad everyone is okay!

I didn't realize how much electronics are stuffed into the handle!

How much did Sony charge for the repair?

Hey, that's how my EX1 looks. The guy I bought it from said it was supposed to look like that.

Still, I'm glad to hear you're all okay.

Those are some awful stories but with good endings.

Gary... It's hard to just "turn it off" but focus on the here and now, and look toward the future. The more you concentrate on the present, the less time and energy will be wasted on the past.

You're expressed your eternal thanks for your son's recovery. Now you deserve to be 100% you.
