EX1 Power connector
Does anyone know where to get one, preferably on ebay.
I got a Steadicam Pilot VLB and would like to power the camera from the sled battery. thanks |

I bought this cut it and put on the 2.1mm power connector that fits the stage on the Pilot.

They are a little hard to get hold of. It is not a standard plug.
I stock them because I use them for my EX1 and EX3 Goldmount and V-mount battery rigs. I have a good source for moulded ends with 3' pig tail, that is how I buy them in bulk. It took me a while to find a good source, but they only sell in bulk. I can sell you one. I can also put a D-tap on them if you like. Just email me. olof@westsideav.com

It is a standard plug, an EIAJ-04.

Some EX1/3 users mount our plate EX-V adapter for powering. Look here http://www.dvinfo.net/forum/stabiliz...ery-mod-2.html

Thanks Alex, I even contacted you earlier as I was set to buy the AA mount version of the Pilot but I bought VLB instead.
@David, I eventually found out that it is a EIAJ-04 but as I live in a hellhole of a country (Croatia that is) I can't find it anywhere locally. @Olof I'll contact you as I'm interested in the bottom plate for the ex1 too. I'm in no hurry as I just found out that the Pilot is quite happy with the EX1 fully loaded (large swit batt, sennheiser G3 receiver, led panel light and all of the Pilot weights) Together with the IDX V-mount battery the whole setup weighs around 5100g which is slightly above the rated capacity but below what the arm is capable of. I tried to load it even more with some clamps so the whole setup weighted 6kg and the arm still carried it without sagging. But I would still like the option to power the camera from the sled battery, you never know when I could need that option. |

Zoran,
I use a StediCam Mini (I think this was the predecessor to the Pilot, it was made for the DSR500 15-20lb camera class) with my ex1R and the EX3, both with Sony Batteries, but I always put a heavy brick battery in the StediCam Goldmount. I find the more weight on the rig the steadier the shots. My Mini has a 4 pin XLR cable coming out of the stage on the StediCam, is that how the Pilot is set up as well?

No, there's a 2.1mm or 2.5mm (I'm not sure which one but they're both easy to get locally) power connector on the top of the stage.
