SxS card slow transfer

I have an 8 Gig SxS card that came with my EX1. It's not used that much, but it does get regular 'outings'.

Did a shoot with it on Wednesday, had problems with pulling stuff off it on-site - put it down to a bad hard drive. However, back home, I tried using XDCAM Transfer to a known good drive, and the reported speed of transfer varies between 0.7x (that's right - slower than real-time) and 1.2x - a far cry from the 8.6x I first got.

Individual clips tend to start fast(ish), but soon get bogged down.

Other SxS cards are fine, just a slowdown on this 8 GB card.

Now, obviously, there's a funky cloud of distrust that's gathering over this card - has anyone experienced this? Is it the first signs of impending doom? Sign of damage to the card?

Did you format the card a few times to make sure it's all clear?

Did you do transfers of the other cards at the same time as the troubled card? Or did you turn off the computer and come back later to find a different card ran faster? Could have been the computer needed a reboot. I've had that issue.

Done the reboot thing quite a bit.

Seemed that the computer needed rebooting after dealing with the card.

I always format the card before use (rather than delete all the clips). Just my way of working with it; I've not formatted it enough times to lead me to think it's near the end of a useful life, though!

A colleague has a similarly aged 8 Gig card, and he's reported issues with his one, too. Not identical, but he'd grumble about it a bit. :)

Hmmm....
