external mic/ex1r

im using a boom mic on my ex1r for some interviews today. when testing, i noticed when i go xlr cable to the mic the audio is perfect and no ambient sound, when i go with my wireless lectrosonics and use the mic plug on it i hear alittle more ambient sound than with the cabled route, why is this?
