PXU-MS240 Workflow
An associate of mine has purchased an EX3. He'll be shooting in a location where external drives and laptops are not practical. He's been looking at the PXU-MS240 to offload the SxS cards when full. I recommended purchasing an extra hard drive cartridge for the PXU-MS240 and copy the same data to each cartridge for redundancy. Has anyone done this and how long to transfer a full 32GB SxS to this unit? Thanks.

I takes about 7 minutes to copy the footage off an SxS card with a PXU-MS240. Copy and verify takes twice as long. The dual cartridge solution is a viable and secure system. One point to note is that to connect a cartridge to a computer without the MS240 you need to power the cartridge with an EX type power supply. It will not work of just the USB port.
There are alternatives to the MS240 including the NextoDI NVS2500 which is smaller and better suited to hostile environments and field work. The 2500 copies at about the same speed as the MS240. The NVS2500 can make multiple backups by connecting an external USB drive to the 2500, but copy speeds are much lower when using USB.
