46 character titles?
Just got my EX1R last week, updated the firmware to 1.10, and noticed in the release notes that a "major function updated" in 1.10 was
• Max. of 46 characters can be set for the title • Checking a long clip name on the CLIP INFO screen enabled (Long-Display mode) In my several days of test shooting I haven't seen where I would set or use these 46 characters. All of my clips are of the <11 character>.MP4 format. I've searched three different XDCAM EX forums and haven't found any info on this "major function". Any clarification on where to set and/or use these 46 character titles would be appreciated. TIA! |

If you have the update installed you just go to "Clip" in the "Others" menu and "Prefix" to set the prefix. Initially it will look like a 4 character prefix but you will find you can add additional characters. It's easiest if you use the handle joystick to set the prefix.

Thanks, Alister. I had visited the clip prefix menu item, but since it still "looked like" a 4 character prefix I incorrectly assumed they meant something else. I should have tried stuffing more characters into the prefix. I also wish Sony would have explained this a little better in the release notes. Well, off to devise a new clip-naming scheme with the increased characters.
