IR Remote Control not working
My new from the box IR remote Control that came with my EX3 does not work properly. I set the IR RC option in the menu on, so that's not the problem. Some functions work, actually only the push set button that operates PP, white balance etc. This proves that the battery it came with is not empty. But zoom, rec etc. does not respond at all. Am I doing something wrong?

more tests, aim it into the camera lens and watch the little led flicker , push different buttons, and see if they all output some pattern of flashing.
of course zoom cant function if zoom is on manuel.

Did you open the battery compartment and pull out the little piece of plastic from under the terminal??!
(just checking - took me about a month to figure that out) ------------- Edit: just re-read the post and realise that some functions are working... clearly not the same problem this idiot had...

You have to go into the menu to turn the remote function on.
It automatically resets itself to off every time you turn the camera off.

At one stage my remote was not working and even though the battery gave a good volt meter reading I was advised to fit a new battery. The new battery solved the problem so I guess that the old battery could not supply enough current under load.

Thanks all for your suggestions. I think I'd better try to replace the new battery, if that doesn't do the trick I'll send it back to Sony. All other suggestions are checked, the plastic slip I had already removed, the menu setiing was okay etc., but the thing just doesn't work.
